PRESS RELEASE

The Novato Community Players presented the hilarious comedy "Charley’s Aunt" on Fridays and Saturdays, August 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24, 1996 at 8:00 p.m. The performance on August 10th was a "benefit dinner show" with proceeds going to technical equipment, which benefited all of the programs and organizations that use the Novato Community House.

"Charley’s Aunt", written by Brandon Thomas, is a farce which will move you to tears of laughter. Two young college gentlemen invite their sweethearts to meet Charley’s Aunt. But, alas, she sends word that she cannot come. They solve their problem by forcing their college buddy into a black dress and a wig. Lord Babberly disguised as Charley’s Aunt is then introduced to the young ladies, to Jack’s father, Sir Francis, and to Stephen Spettigue, the girls’ guardian. Each for their own reasons attempts to win the favor of the "old frump". The young college buddies run into even more problems when Charley’s "real aunt" arrives on the scene.

The cast included: Sean Bernardi as Jack Chesney, Kelvin Buneman as Charley Wykeham, David DeLuca as Lord Fancourt Babberly, Sarah Gallivan as Amy Spettigue, Roy Harvey as Brassett, John Moreschi as Sir Francis Chesney, Valerie Northrup as Kitty Verdun, Siobhan O’Brien as Ela Delahay, Tom Sapper as Stephen Spettigue and Susan Yost as Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez. The play was directed by Nancy DeLuca, and produced by Brenda Weidner

The play was presented at the Novato Community House at Machin and Delong Streets.
