Proof explores the unknowability of love as much as it does the mysteries of mathematics. A troubled young woman must deal with her father’s death, the arrival of her estranged sister and the attentions of a former student of her father’s. Although her father was thought to be unstable and to have produced nothing of worth in his later years, his student hopes to find value in his notebooks. Surprises await as our heroine reveals her own mathematical genius. Engrossing and surprising.
