Novato Theater Company Member Code of Conduct

To foster a welcoming and respectful environment for all Novato Theater Company members, the following guidelines apply:

Respectful Behavior:
All members are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect at all times. The Novato Theater Company has zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or unkind behavior, whether in person, during meetings, or via digital communication.
The definition of harassment is a series or pattern of acts over a period of time that shows an intent to harass someone. The period of time can be short of long, The acts can include

following or stalking someone
-
making harassing phone calls
-
sending harassing messages by email, text, social media, or by any other medium

a course of conduct that
is knowing and wilful
is directed at a specific person
seriously alarms, annoys, or harasses that person
serves no legitimate purpose
would cause a reasonable person substantial emotional distress
actually causes substantial emotional distress to the person

Safe Spaces:
Meetings and NTC events should be safe and welcoming for all members.

Reporting Incidents:
Any incidents or concerns should be reported to the NTC Board via email.

Accountability:
NTC is not responsible for any personal disputes or injuries occurring during meetings or community activities.

Respect for Privacy:
Members’ consent must be obtained before sharing their photos, comments, or personal information on social media or public forums. This does not include promotional materials for productions or events, which are intended to be publicly shared to support the organization.

Enforcement of Standards:
Members are encouraged to report violations of this Code of Conduct directly to the Board of NTC.
Procedures for Violations
If a member’s behavior is deemed inappropriate, unkind, or harmful to the group, the following steps may be taken:
1. Verbal Warning: A private conversation will be held with the member (by board representatives) to address the issue.
2. Meeting with Leadership: If the behavior continues, a formal meeting will be held with the member and NTC leadership.
3. Membership Review: In severe cases, the Board reserves the right to revoke membership or impose restrictions to protect the community.
